Microsoft Office or Excel is the only requirement for this software to work.

The software runs on Microsoft Windows operating systems only.

DiffEngineX is free to use for the first 30 days for the purposes of evaluation.

DiffEngineX is a desktop application, not an Excel add-in i.e. it runs outside of Excel.

All our executables are digitally signed with a trusted certificate.

Smaller Download With Same Functionality

The smaller download will work with any modern Windows operating system. Only older operating systems such as Windows 7 may need the larger download. If the smaller install fails, try the larger download.

Usage

It is recommended not to open Excel workbooks by double-clicking on them while DiffEngineX is comparing sheets. If you need to open an Excel workbook while DiffEngineX is running, do it from inside Excel.

The Short Guide To Using DiffEngineX is recommended reading.

DiffEngineX will compare VBA code if the option Compare Visual Basic Code / Macros is selected from the Options dialog. xla and .xlam files need to be converted into .xls and .xlsm files first. Click here for instructions.

Currently VBA macros in referenced add-ins are not loaded for the purposes of execution during the process of spreadsheet comparison. If you have cell formulae referencing user defined functions written in Visual Basic, you may want to contact us for our special build of DiffEngineX which loads Visual Basic for Applications macros.

tip #2

If you see an error message stating Microsoft Excel may not be installed, you may need to repair your installation of Microsoft Office. For more details click here.

tip #3

In order to just see the new (green) or deleted (red) rows in both color highlighted worksheets, you can make use of Excel's built-in Filter capability. Just create a filter and then select a column to filter on Cell Color.

tip #4

If comparing rows of data, you may need Excel's Data tab to pre-sort. Then re-save before invoking DiffEngineX.

tip #5

If your region, language, location, date, time or number format settings have been altered or do not match the language version of Excel, you may need to turn on the DiffEngineX Internationalization option to stop errors.

tip #6

If you turn on Add Hyperlinks to aid navigation, the links work best if the workbooks being compared are initially closed (only applies to Excel 2003). For more details click here.
